There are a lot of people out there making whisky-related content.
From the Scotch drinker’s perspective, these websites are excellent:
This Belgian-based site is run by a very knowledgeable enthusiast named Reuben. It’s easy to navigate, regularly updated, and he has tasted a lot (I do mean a lot!) of whisky. I highly recommend this site.
YouTuber Roy, better known as Aquavitae, created this website fairly recently. He and a team of collaborators write about all things whisky, especially long-form reviews with lots of narrative and detail. There are frequent updates, so you can get lots of fresh content. Another great site to check out.
The website of veteran whisky writer Dave Broom. He’s a whisky writing legend, and there is some good content. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been updating it much lately, but it’s still worth checking out.
YouTube is a whisky paradise. There are a ton of people out there making YouTube videos about whisky.
For Scotch, Dramface impresario Roy is hard to beat. His channel Aquavitae is a must visit for the Scotch enthusiast and Roy himself is so affable and enthusiastic that spending some time with his videos is a pleasure.
Another great YouTube channel for Scotch is Ralfy. He does a ton of reviews and really knows his stuff.
I also highly recommend The Grail, which features knowledgeable, banter filled reviews with Jen and Rachel and also Whisky Lock, who does some great in-depth stuff.
I also have to give a shout out to New Mexico’s own Whiskey One, who does some nice in-depth tasting sessions and will quickly tempt you to expand your horizons beyond Scotch.
Finally, if you’re in the greater Albuquerque area (as I am) I’d recommend getting involved with the Albuquerque Whiskey Society–they’re a great and welcoming group of people who do regular tasting events and share a general enthusiasm for all things whiskey. They’re more oriented toward bourbon and other American styles, but have plenty of folk who drink Scotch and Irish whiskey as well.
