About Me

I’m Michael. I like whisky, and I like reading and writing about whisky. I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico with my wife. I’ve been a single malt Scotch enthusiast since I first tasted Old Pulteney when I was just shy of 19 years old. Since my later 20s, I’ve been writing tasting notes and trying to collect both bottles and tasting experiences, and over the years, I’ve learned a lot about Scotland’s many malt whisky distilleries, the history of the whisky industry, and how whisky is made. When I’m not tasting or writing about Scotch, I enjoy spending time with my wife, hiking, photography, literature, opera, chamber music, and good food and (other) drink.
